Statistics support decision-making

Monitoring information is essential for integration policy planning. The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment gathers register data on immigration and immigrants’ living conditions and makes it into statistics.

Indicators as assessment and monitoring tools

Integration policy is developed on the basis of quantitative and qualitative indicator data.

The sections of the monitoring system are as follows:

  • labour market participation
  • education, training and learning
  • health and well-being
  • political participation
  • smoothness of the permit processes

An overall review is drawn up on the basis of the information gathered from the various sections of the monitoring system so that ethnic relations and different aspects of integration can be assessed. The overall review is published every four years.
