In its own areas of responsibility, MEAE maintains and develops direct contacts with the Russian Federation and with regional authorities in Russia in matters that are important to business operators. The ministry is actively engaged in the Russian Team Finland network and monitors developments concerning Russian legislation and the country’s markets.
The Finnish-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation and its working groups provide the most important official cooperation framework supporting business operators. The working groups for electricity and energy efficiency, investments, innovation, shipbuilding, forest industry and oil and gas, as well as nine working groups for Russian regions are led by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. The working groups act as channels for information and networking and support enterprises in their efforts to establish direct trade relations with Russian partners.
