More flexible EU state aid rules introduced during the COVID pandemic to end in phases

On 12 May 2022, the European Commission decided that the more flexible state aid rules that were introduced to mitigate the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic would largely end on 30 June 2022. The decision was based on the Commission’s assessment that the coronavirus pandemic no longer has a negative impact on the EU economy. However, the measures under the temporary state aid rules to support the recovery of the EU will remain in force until the end of 2022 and 2023.

Aid for uncovered fixed costs under the Act on Support for Business Costs to be extended

On 7 April 2022, the Government proposed an extension to support for uncovered fixed costs under the Act on Support for Business Costs. The support is intended primarily for medium-sized and large companies. The support would be granted by the State Treasury.

A new application round will be organised for business cost support and closure compensation. Companies will apply for support at the State Treasury. The Government proposes that the amendments be ratified in the presidential session on 11 March 2022. The legislative amendments will enter into force on 15 March 2022.

A new application round will be organised for business cost support and closure compensation. The Government submitted its proposal for Parliament’s consideration on 10 February 2022. The support period for closure compensation is from 21 December 2021 to 28 February 2022 and for business cost support from 1 December 2021 to 28 February 2022. Companies will apply for support at the State Treasury. 

Entrepreneurs to be temporarily entitled to labour market support in January–February 2022

Entrepreneurs have been temporarily entitled to labour market support on more flexible terms during the coronavirus pandemic. Due to the deteriorating coronavirus situation, this temporary amendment will continue. The President of the Republic confirmed the legislative amendment on 28 January 2022, and it will enter into force on 31 January 2022.
