The Nordic Council of Ministers has commissioned Jorma Ollila to undertake a strategic review of energy cooperation in the Nordic Region. The purpose of the review is to examine how Nordic energy cooperation can be the most efficiently planned and coordinated over the next five to ten years.

Jorma Ollila is a big name in the international business community. He was the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Nokia in the 1990s and early 2000s, when the company was the world's leading mobile phone manufacturer. From 2006 to 2015 he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shell and currently he, among other things, chairs the Board of the steel company Outokumpu.

 - The coming years will involve a number of new opportunities and challenges for Nordic cooperation on energy, such as with regard to the EU's plans for an energy union. For this reason it is highly relevant to now conduct a strategic review," says Finnish Minister for Economic Affairs Olli Rehn, who this year chairs the Council of Ministers for Energy during the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers.

The strategic review of energy cooperation is part of the Nordic Council of Minister's reform project, which among other things aims to make the Council's work more efficient.
