Petri Peltonen appointed Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Employment and the Economy
Peltonen is currently Director General of the Enterprise and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Employment and the Economy. He has served in a similar position since the establishment of the Ministry. Prior to his current position, Peltonen headed the Technology Department at the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Before his career in the ministry, he worked at TEKES from 1996 to 2006, first as a researcher and research manager and since 1999 as Executive Director of international networks. He has also held technology development positions at the European Space Agency, ESA, (1990-1996) and worked in product development positions at Hollming Ltd (1987-1989).
The Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Employment and the Economy assists the Permanent Secretary and directs and coordinates (1) strategically important policies, the steering of activities and operational models in the Ministry and its administrative branch, and (2) preparation of special research projects related to the economic policy. He also (3) participates in the setting up of international networks of cooperation.
