Temporary amendments to business development aid to continue until 30 June 2021

On 30 December 2020, the Government issued a decree that will extend the validity of the temporary amendments to the Government Decree on Discretionary Government Transfers to Develop Business Operations. The amendments entered into force earlier in the autumn. The decree applies to business development aid granted by the ELY Centres.
Temporary amendments to business development aid

By decree of 15 October, the Government has enabled the granting of business development aid in the form of so-called temporary state aid for a maximum of EUR 800,000 per company. In addition, the decree allows the granting of aid to small companies that have been in difficulties before 1 January 2020. The temporary amendments will be in force from 19 October to 31 December 2020.
Evaluation of the National Emergency Supply Agency completed

According to an evaluation published on 28 May 2021, Finland’s National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) is an effective, flexible and agile agency, but due to changes in the operating environment, its regulation, structures and processes need to be reformed. A stakeholder survey carried out to support the evaluation shows that the operators involved in the security of supply consider the system to be working very well.
Amendments for preventing the exploitation of foreign labour circulated for comments

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment proposes that a number of amendments be made to the Aliens Act to combat the exploitation of foreign labour and to improve the status of victims of exploitation. The consultation process takes place on 9–30 October 2020.
