Government proposes amendments to Integration Act to secure services for those fleeing Ukraine

The Government is preparing amendments to the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration so that municipalities and wellbeing services counties would be reimbursed for the costs they incur for organising services to beneficiaries of temporary protection who have been granted a municipality of residence.

Fast track speeds up immigration of experts and growth entrepreneurs

A new fast track service enables specialists, growth entrepreneurs and their family members to obtain a residence permit within 14 days. The service will be launched at the beginning of June. This service pledge is one of the Government's many measures to streamline the immigration of experts. 

Amended law to ease entry and retention of international students in Finland

Under a new act, students arriving in Finland from abroad will obtain a residence permit for the entire duration of their studies*. The law will also make it easier to apply for work after graduation. However, students will still be responsible for their livelihood throughout their studies.

Comments sought on government proposal to simplify residence permits for researchers

The Government’s proposal to amend the act on residence permits for researchers has been sent out for comments. It would extend the duration of residence permits to make it easier for researchers to stay in Finland and conduct research. At the same time, it would improve the position of researchers conducting postgraduate research.

Finland needs immigration of skilled workforce to strengthen the growth conditions of companies and to ensure the functioning and wellbeing of society. Up-to-date information about the Talent Boost programme which promotes education-based and work-based immigration will be available on the new website. The purpose of the website is to describe the Talent Boost network’s practical work and to serve all those involved in the network as well as others interested in the programme.
