265,300 unemployed jobseekers in September

At the end of September there were a total of 265,300 unemployed jobseekers. This is 50,500 less than a year earlier.
The number of unemployed jobseekers decreased by 50,500. The number of new vacancies reported in September totalled 96,500. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies amounted to 170,300, which is 67,300 more than a year ago.

The Government proposes an experiment to assess what impact recruitment subsidy would have on a company hiring its first employee. The experiment will examine whether financial support for payroll costs would lower the threshold for recruitment. The objective is to support business growth and promote employment. The pilot is scheduled to start on 1 March 2022 and last until the end of 2023.

In February–March 2021, the Employment and Economic Development Offices (TE Offices) defined 37 occupations as shortage occupations nationwide. A year ago, before the effects of the coronavirus epidemic started to show, there were 60 such occupations. In the autumn of 2020, 31 of the estimated 200 occupations suffered from labour shortage.

281,000 unemployed jobseekers in August

There were 281 000 unemployed jobseekers in Finland in end of August 2021.  It´s 48 700 unemployed less than in previous year.
The number of unemployed jobseekers decreased by 48,700 from August last year. The number of new vacancies reported in August totalled 90,100. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies amounted to 155,300, which is 56,700 more than a year ago.

At the end of July, a total of 322,600 unemployed jobseekers were registered at the Employment and Economic Development Offices and municipalities participating in the local government pilots on employment. This is 64,900 less than a year earlier.
