  32. More than 30,000 potential employees available for seasonal work - Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment

    27.4.2020 | Seasonal work is now widely marketed to different target groups. There are now 31,800 jobseekers registered with TE Offices who are seeking employment in agriculture, 17,200 of them are either unemployed or laid off. Unfortunately farms have not reported all job opportunities to TE services, which means the actual number of workers needed on farms in unknown.

  33. Nordic employment ministers to discuss the future of work and the welfare model - Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment

    2.6.2021 | At their video conference on 2 June 2021, the Nordic ministers of employment will exchange views over the findings of the extensive Future of Work research project. The final report of the project found that, in the long term, the Nordic welfare model will be challenged by global megatrends such as digital transformation, the ageing of the population and climate change.

    24.11.2020 | Jyväskylä, Tampere, Karkkila and Vihti will launch a project in which the problems faced by children, young people and families will be tackled proactively and at the right time. The aim is to increase wellbeing and reduce the costs of services and the need for unemployment benefits.

    8.12.2021 | In a report commissioned by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, likely future outlooks for regional development in Finland have been examined through four different scenarios. According to these scenarios which extend to 2040, regional development may be globally selective, concentrated on raw materials and tourism, patchwork-like or balanced.

    11.6.2019 | Asko Harjula, Master of Laws, will act as the interim Chief Executive Officer of the National Emergency Supply Agency for the duration of the application process for a new CEO, from 12 June 2019 until 31 October 2019 at the latest. Harjula was previously Deputy Director General, Administration, at the National Emergency Supply Agency.

    13.12.2019 | European public employment services are currently making little or no use of artificial intelligence, as reported in a recent survey by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.     20.10.2020 | A total of 315,800 unemployed jobseekers were registered at the Employment and Economic Development Offices at the end of September, an increase of 89,700 from the previous year. The number of unemployed jobseekers decreased by 13,900 from the previous month. The number of unemployed jobseekers also includes those fully laid off. These figures are from the Employment Bulletin of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.

    3.9.2020 | Urban development in Finland continues to inadequately address the differences between towns and cities, in comparison with other regions or municipalities. At the same time, the way cities as an object of policy are being developed is too fragmented and continues to focus on administrative sectors and disconnected policy instruments. These were the findings of an unofficial discussion document published on 3 September.
