22.3.2017 | On 22 March 2017, Valmet Automotive announced that it was launching a recruitment campaign to attract about 1,060 new employees to its factory in Uusikaupunki. The factory currently employs approximately 2,300 people. 20.11.2018 | A total of 230,100 unemployed jobseekers were registered at the Employment and Economic Development Offices at the end of October. This was 42,400 fewer than a year earlier. The number of unemployed jobseekers was down by 1,900 from the previous month. 25.9.2019 | The Go-Live of Datahub, a centralised information exchange service for electricity trade, will be postponed to early 2022. The initial target Go-Live schedule was April 2021. Postponing the Go-Live date became topical when it emerged that some retailers and distribution system operators would be unable to meet the current Go-Live schedule of Datahub. 2.10.2018 | The Government of Finland has made some key amendments to its proposal to lower the threshold for employment on the basis of comments it received on its draft proposal. 21.9.2018 | The Finnish Government has commissioned a pilot study on bottlenecks in the processing of residence permits on the basis of employment. The ministerial working group on migration discussed the study report in its meetings on 21 September 2018. 1.11.2016 | On 1 November 2016, Finnish electricity transmission company Fingrid and its Swedish counterpart Svenska Kraftnät announced they were beginning preparatory work for a new, 800 megawatt transmission link between Finland and Sweden. The planned power line will run from Messaure in Sweden to Pyhäselkä in Finland, via Keminmaa.
