Applications for investment aid on large demonstration projects in 2026
Large-scale demonstration projects mean new energy technology projects with investment costs of more than EUR 5 million. Investment aid will be targeted at new technology projects that support energy solutions of the future and that can potentially be replicated in domestic and international markets. The aid will advance the objectives of the National Energy and Climate Strategy.
The applicant must be prepared to make an investment decision within one year of the granting of the investment aid. The aid will be aimed especially at production investments in renewable transport fuels and energy storage solutions. Aid may also be granted for other significant investment projects in new energy technology.
A total of EUR 48 million has been reserved for large-scale demonstration projects in the 2026 Budget.
Investment aid promotes new technology solutions
The decisions to grant the aid are based on overall consideration and a comparison of the different projects. Special emphasis is placed on the novelty value of the technology included in the project. Other criteria include project feasibility, amount of energy produced, cost-effectiveness and other impacts.

Projects that do not qualify for aid under the large-scale demonstration projects due to their smaller investment costs may apply for energy aid.
