An informal meeting of EU ministers responsible for competitiveness (internal market and industry) will be held in Dublin on 9–10 July 2026. Finland will be represented by Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is inviting views on a draft act that would transpose into national law the EU Directive on improving working conditions in platform work. The public consultation will be open from 8 July to 28 August 2026. The draft act was prepared by a tripartite working group, which did not reach a unanimous position.
Effective and proactive action is needed to address the exploitation of foreign workers. The Government continues to combat labour exploitation by amending the rules on residence permits.
EU energy ministers will meet in Luxembourg on 26 June 2026. The main item on the agenda of the meeting of the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council is to reach a general approach on the development of trans-European networks for energy. The ministers will also discuss the planning of post-2030 energy policy, as well as coordination and response measures to the energy impacts of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala will represent Finland at the meeting.
