Sustainable economic growth through industrial policy

The aim of the industrial policy is to achieve sustainable economic growth. Economic growth helps to maintain high levels of employment and boosts job creation.

Global economy provides the framework for national industrial policy. Even though the national industrial policy is based on national interests, global economy growth benefits everybody.

Central factors contributing to higher productivity are healthy competition, ensuring competitiveness at national level, structural change boosting productivity growth and making use of global business opportunities.

Challenges in industrial policy

The main industrial policy challenges in Finland can be summed up as follows:

  • better identification of global challenges and customers’ needs
  • turning innovations into genuine competitive advantages
  • better management of global value chains
  • strengthening Finland’s industrial and private service sectors and ensuring that the benefits of value creation are channelled to Finland.
