Loviisa power plant
There are two active nuclear power plant units in the Loviisa nuclear power plant area. Fortum Power and Heat Oy owns the nuclear power plant units in Loviisa. The units were commissioned for commercial use in 1977 and 1981. Each pressurised water reactor has a gross output of 507 MW. The facility area also has a final disposal facility for low and intermediate level waste as well as a temporary storage of spent fuel.
The current operating licences of the Loviisa nuclear power plant units expire in 2027 and 2030. Fortum Power and Heat Oy have initiated the environmental impact assessment procedure in 2020. The procedure examines alternatives for continuing the use of the facility units and decommissioning.
