Advisory service for seasonal workers and berry pickers will continue this summer
The service is intended especially for foreign seasonal workers and berry pickers who suspect that they have been exploited in their work in Finland. The service has been open every summer since 2021. It is organised by Victim Support Finland and funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
“The ground rules of working life must be fair and just for everyone. This advisory service offers a low-threshold channel for foreign workers to get the information they may need,” says Minister of Employment Arto Satonen.
The helpline gives advice to employees concerning e.g. legal working conditions such as working hours and wages, housing conditions, fees charged by recruiters or employers, and the available legal remedies. If the employee contacting the service gives their consent, the matter can be referred to the authorities for further investigation.
Advisory service will be open until the end of September
The advisory service is open from 3 June to 30 September 2024 from Monday to Friday at 13–16. The number is +358 40 484 0103. The helpline answers questions on the phone and using the most common messaging apps (WhatsApp, Viber, LINE, ZALO, Telegram, Signal).
The service can be contacted in any language. Calls are answered in Finnish or English but, when needed, help is available in any other language. The service is confidential, and no information provided by the persons contacting the service will be passed on to other parties without their permission.
