Welcome to Finland guide
The Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration (1386/2010, section 7) requires that immigrants be informed about Finnish society. Welcome to Finland is an information pack for people moving to Finland under the Integration Act.
It is only available from so-called statutory bodies, i.e. the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (local register offices), the Finnish Immigration Service and Finnish missions abroad. A government agency gives the guide (or the more concise brochure) to its customers when they are notified of the granting of the residence permit, their right of residence is registered or when they are issued with the residence card or assigned a home municipality and their details are entered in the Population Information System.
Other organisations, such as authorities and those working with immigration and integration, can order a postcard for their customers prompting them to read the guide online on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment’s website. The postcards are available for order free of charge.
See the more detailed instructions on how to order and distribute the guide and the advertising card at the bottom of the page.
The content of the guide and their language versions are based on the InfoFinland online service, which is partly funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. The authorities applying the Integration Act are responsible for ensuring that the content selected for the guide is up-to-date on the InfoFinland website. The Centre of Expertise in Immigrant Integration at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment is responsible for coordinating the selection of content, updates and distribution.
Please note that the guide is updated approximately every 3-4 years, so the guide may contain partially outdated content. Check the up-to-date information directly from the relevant authority.
