EU thresholds for public procurement to rise on 1 January 2024
The European Commission has revised the EU thresholds used in public procurement. The changes are based on the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) Government Procurement Agreement (GPA). The Commission reviews the EU thresholds to correspond with the GPA every two years.
The threshold for goods and services will rise from EUR 140,000 to EUR 143,000 for central government authorities, i.e. ministries, and national agencies and public bodies in their administrative branch. The threshold for other contracting authorities, such as municipalities and wellbeing services counties, will rise from EUR 215,000 to EUR 221,000. Meanwhile, the threshold for building and concession contracts will increase from EUR 5,382,000 to EUR 5,538,000.
Thresholds will also rise in special sectors
The thresholds for procurement of goods and services under the Act on Public Contracts in Special Sectors will rise from EUR 431,000 to EUR 443,000.

The updates made by the Commission do not affect the national thresholds.
