Integration 2022 offers many perspectives on integration from employment to the situation of Ukrainian refugees
Integration 2022 brings together those involved in integration matters to Tampere on 7–8 November 2022 with a focus on current themes in integration and reception of refugees. The overall theme of this year’s event is change and the changing operating environment. The programme tracks deal with employment, education, receptiveness of society, wellbeing and health, and the integration of refugees of different ages.
Integration is an event organised every second year for experts highlighting integration and refugee reception. The Integration event of 2022 will take place in Tampere on 7–8 November. More than a thousand participants are expected to attend the two-day event.
This year, the keynote speaker of the event will be Tobias Van Treeck, Head of the Finnish Representation of the International Organization for Migration (IOM). He will speak about the ways in which we can prepare for the upheaval of the operating environment and the lessons learned from the exceptional situations of the past. At the event, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will present legislative reforms affecting integration (particularly the overall reform of the Integration Act).
Focus on workplace education and employment of immigrant women
The programme track ‘Employment’ will address the employment of immigrant women in Finland and non-discrimination in working life. The track focusing on education will highlight longer educational and employment paths and workplace education and training.
Meanwhile, the track ‘Receptiveness of society’ asks why we should invest in inclusive culture that takes everyone into account, and the ‘Wellbeing and health’ track draws attention to the position of immigrants with disabilities and the health and wellbeing of refugees. The ‘Integration for all ages’ track looks at the situation and experiences of people of different ages who have fled Ukraine.
Integration event draws attention to the work of integration experts
Both the programme and the exhibition stands at the Integration 2022 event highlight the work of the people who are involved in integration and reception of refugees. The exhibition venue consists of stands where organisations, municipalities and authorities present their activities and new materials.
Similarly to previous events, Integration 2022 will continue to strengthen partnerships between the authorities, municipalities, the third sector and businesses.
Event organisers are a diverse group of integration experts
The Integration 2022 event is organised by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment in cooperation with the ELY Centres of Uusimaa and Pirkanmaa and the City of Tampere. The City of Helsinki, City of Espoo and the Red Cross are also involved in the event implementation.
The event is part of the Integration Partnership Programme. At the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Centre of Expertise in Immigrant Integration coordinates the preparations for the event. The event is partly funded by the European Union.
