Minister Rydman to lead a Team Finland visit to Canada and the US
Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will lead a Team Finland visit to Canada and the US on 5–8 March 2024. The main themes of the visit will be marine industry and ports. A business delegation of 30 people from 20 different companies and organisations will participate in the trip.
In Quebec, Canada, the theme of the visit will be shipbuilding. The Canadian shipyard Chantier Davie Canada acquired the Helsinki shipyard in November last year. On 5 March 2024, the minister will visit Davie’s shipyard in Quebec and have a discussion with the company’s CEO James Davies. Rydman will also meet the mayor of Quebec City, Bruno Marchand.
The visit to the US will focus on ports and shipbuilding. In Washington, the minister will meet his colleagues from US administration and attend a high-level discussion on these themes. Rydman will meet the Governor of the State of Virginia Glenn Youngkin and visit the Port of Virginia on 7 March 2024.
Finland is a global pioneer in intelligent maritime transport solutions and in Arctic and emission-free technology. In shipbuilding, our strength is also the reliable delivery of ships on schedule. There are about 80 seaports in the United States which can offer significant opportunities for Finnish companies in innovative port solutions.
Business Finland has selected the business delegation. Companies represented in the business delegation include: ABB Oy Marine, Cadmatic, Carina Solutions, Champion Door, Danfoss Drives, DNY Finland, Dynaset, Konecranes, Marioff Corporation, Meriteollisuus ry, Pemamek, Planneri Group, Rauma Marine Constructions, Silo AI, Sjöblom Marine Engineering, Steerprop, Vaisala, Visy, VTT and Wärtsilä Corporation.
