Minister of the Environment and Climate Sari Multala will take part in the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) General Conference in Vienna on 15–16 September 2025. On Monday, she will deliver Finland’s national statement to the plenary.

Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto will lead a Team Finland visit to the US on 15–18 September 2025. The visit will focus on quantum technology. Puisto will be accompanied by a business delegation representing 13 companies and organisations.

The economic prospects of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have improved slightly from last spring, the most recent SME Barometer shows. The outlook is also more positive than a year ago, driven by low inflation and falling interest rates. The challenging situation of construction companies, in particular, appears to be easing.

Under the proposal, large companies would be required to produce their first sustainability report for the year 2027 and publish it in spring 2028. The Government’s aim is to reduce the administrative burden of Finnish companies to the extent permitted by EU legislation.

The EU’s energy ministers will hold an informal meeting of ministers in Copenhagen on 4–5 September 2025. The key issues on the agenda include the future of Europe’s energy architecture after 2030, extensive deployment of clean technologies, and development of energy infrastructure. Finland will be represented by Minister of Climate and the Environment Sari Multala.
