New Public Procurement Act enters into force: Competition in public procurement to increase

The Government aims to increase fair and open competition. The new Act on Public Procurement and Concession Contracts will increase competition in public procurement and restrict the use of in-house entities. The amendments will enter into force on 18 June 2026.

Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism progresses at Ecofin Council

The EU’s Economic and Financial Affairs Council (Ecofin Council) agreed its general approach on a proposal to strengthen the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in Luxembourg on 12 June 2026. The proposal would extend the CBAM to downstream products and introduce new measures to prevent circumvention.

Joint recommendations for workplaces in case of drone threats

Together with the social partners, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health and the Ministry of the Interior have drawn up recommendations for workplaces in case of drone threats. Their premise is that official instructions are followed. The recommendations are based on the current threat assessment and they will be updated as necessary. They also include a recommendation on the payment of wages.
