Minister of Economic Affairs to travel to Singapore
Minister of Economic Affairs Katri Kulmuni will visit Singapore on 13–15 November 2019 to promote Finnish exports and the internationalisation of Finnish businesses. The purpose of Minister Kulmuni’s visit is to highlight Finnish know-how and promote the business and innovation projects of Finnish companies, particularly those involved in health technology, the circular economy, intelligent building solutions and cyber security capabilities.
During Minister Kulmuni’s visit, Singapore will be hosting the Singapore Fintech Festival SFF & the Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology SWITCH. Taking place from 11 to 15 November, this business and innovation event brings together more than 80,000 participants from around the world. Some 25 Finnish companies will participate in the event.
“I see significant opportunities for cooperation between Finland and Singapore. Climate change, demographic change, and rapid technological advances are shaping both our societies. Finnish companies boast tremendous expertise in fields such as environmental and health technologies. We can provide solutions to these challenges,” Minister Kulmuni says.
During her visit, Minister Kulmuni will attend several business meetings and export promotion events that focus on the business opportunities of the Finnish health sector, the circular economy, waste management, cyber security competence, and the maritime industry. Other themes to be discussed include cooperation in research, development and innovation, investment, business financing and technologies.
As part of her visit, Minister Kulmuni will meet Lam Pin Min, Senior Minister of State for Health and Transport. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss innovation cooperation between Finland and Singapore in the health and transport sectors.
Minister Kulmuni will also meet S Iswaran, who is responsible for digitalisation at Singapore’s Ministry for Communications and Information, and for international cooperation at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. The ministers will discuss opportunities for cooperation in the fields of science, research and innovation, and commercial cooperation.
