Finland’s Commissioner General for Expo 2017 in Astana is Severi Keinälä
Severi Keinälä, Industrial Counsellor at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, has taken up the duties of Commissioner General of Finland for the Expo 2017 international exposition in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Commissioner General is responsible for the preparations for Finland’s participation in Expo 2017 and for the practical implementation of this, as well as for the functioning of the Finnish Pavilion. A project organisation is being set up in conjunction with Finpro for Finland’s participation in Expo 2017.
“The main theme of the Expo is future energy options. We are one of the leading countries in the world in energy expertise, energy efficiency and cleantech. Our energy companies already have a range of contacts in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, and I believe that the Expo will bring considerably more,” says Keinälä.
Since 2010 Keinälä has headed the Exports and International Investments group in the Enterprise and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. Prior to that he has worked as an expert at the Confederation of Finnish Industries and has been a company director and entrepreneur.
The duties of Commissioner General began on 1 August 2016 and will last until at least 31 October 2017. The Expo 2017 international exposition will be held in the Kazakhstan capital, Astana, on 10 June – 10 September 2017.
