Minister of Justice and Employment Jari Lindström will meet Hong Kong's Secretary for Financial Services KC Chan on 15 April in Helsinki. The aim of the meeting is to enhance cooperation between Finland and Hong Kong in the finance sector.
The ministers will discuss the opportunities of the Finnish fintech sector in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has demand and funding for fintech services and it seeks for new innovations, technologies and expertise from Finland. The visitors are particularly interested in digital invoicing and payment services where Finland has pioneering experience.
- For its part, Finland is looking for new markets, rapid internationalisation and solid growth for its fintech businesses and therefore possible cooperation would benefit both parties, says Minister of Justice and Employment Jari Lindström.
During his visit, Secretary Chan will participate in Finpro's round table discussion focusing on fintech. Mr Chan's programme will also include visits to the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Finland.
In the autumn, Hong Kong will send a delegation to the SLUSH event to further promote the countries' cooperation in the fintech sector. Hong Kong has also expressed interest in the digital knowhow of the Finnish delivery chains and logistic services.
