9.10.2025 | The state and sectors have signed new Energy Efficiency Agreements for 2026–2035. Upon signing the agreements, 169 organisations committed themselves to efficient energy use. 5.6.2025 | The current legislation on regional development and the EU’s structural policy supports the objectives, but implementation should be more cost-effective in future. The Government submitted a report on the subject to Parliament on 5 June 2025. The report evaluated how well and effectively the system and funding of regional development functions. 4.7.2025 | The European Commission plans to support the establishment of AI gigafactories across EU Member States. From Finland, technology leader Nokia, along with a business consortium it has assembled, has stepped forward with an expression of interest to bring an AI gigafactory to the country and has taken part in the Commission’s call. 11.4.2024 | Nuclear energy is produced for good reasons. In the early days of January, the coldest winter conditions for decades raised electricity consumption in Finland to a maximum of 15 gigawatts, which is the biggest quantity for nearly a decade. There was indeed demand for electricity produced with nuclear energy.
