National exploration programme under European Critical Raw Materials Act submitted to Commission
Finland submitted the national exploration programme required by the European Critical Raw Materials Act to the European Commission on 12 September 2025. The programme has now been published on the website of the Geological Survey of Finland. The proposal for the programme was prepared by the Geological Survey of Finland and the programme was approved by Minister of Economic Affairs Sakari Puisto.
According to the programme, the planning and implementation under the programme are guided by the following principles:
- Launch of needs-based research projects to support exploration for the most sought-after raw materials.
- Study of the CRM potential of Finland's multi-metallic ore deposits.
- Research focus on less-explored areas in order to identify new potential areas for critical minerals.
- Maintenance of the high quality and reliability of Finnish geoscientific research, data and expertise.
The Geological Survey of Finland will implement the measures included in the programme within the limits of its resources. Read the programme on the website of the Geological Survey of Finland at: XXX
