5.6.2025 | The current legislation on regional development and the EU’s structural policy supports the objectives, but implementation should be more cost-effective in future. The Government submitted a report on the subject to Parliament on 5 June 2025. The report evaluated how well and effectively the system and funding of regional development functions. 15.12.2022 | On 15 December 2022, the Government granted a total of EUR 950,000 to strengthen eastern Finland’s vitality and capacity for change. 10.2.2025 | The fourth programming period of EU structural funds for Finland ended at the end of last year. Finland made full use of the funding provided by the EU, including additional funding from the EU recovery package. 21.10.2021 | On 21 October 2021, the Government approved the EU regional and structural policy programme, Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021−2027, and decided to submit it to the European Commission.
