Artificial Intelligence course

Finland held the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December 2019. Digitalisation, artificial intelligence (AI) and the provision of opportunities for lifelong learning are among the key elements of the EU’s Agenda for Sustainable Growth, which was prepared during Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. Finland is also known for equal and high-quality free public education and for technological expertise.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment aims to make it possible for all EU citizens to participate in a high-quality artificial intelligence course that supports lifelong learning, develops digital skills and is free for all, which Finland wanted to promote during its Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2019.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment aims to invest in lifelong learning, equality and the development of EU citizens’ AI skills. This can be estimated to strengthen the applicability and commercialisation prospects of digitalisation in all of Europe and to raise awareness of and demand for Finnish expertise and technology in Europe. At the same time, through the investment, we aim to strengthen an image of Finland as a country at the leading edge in digitalisation (AI in particular) and as an EU Member State that plays a leading role in the area and invests in equal opportunities for education and lifelong learning.
