Regional aid

Labour and other resources are unevenly distributed, and, for this reason, there are differences in business opportunities between regions. Accessibility and distances to markets also vary by region. The Government may designate the least developed areas as support areas.

In assisted areas, the level of aid granted for companies' investments may be higher than elsewhere in the country. Long-distance transport of products processed by small and medium-sized enterprises can also be supported in sparsely populated areas of Eastern and Northern Finland.
