Ministers Lindström and Rehula to meet Estonian Minister of Health and Labour Ossinovski
Estonian Minister of Health and Labour Jevgeni Ossinovski is to visit Finland on Tuesday 9 August 2016 at the invitation of Minister of Justice and Employment Jari Lindström. Minister Ossinovski will also meet Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Juha Rehula. The purpose of the visit is to further cooperation in current matters concerning employment and health care.
Ministers Lindström and Ossinovski will discuss labour mobility and Estonia’s forthcoming EU presidency. A topical issue in labour mobility is the renewal of the EU directive on the posting of workers, the aim being to protect particular pay levels. There are many Estonians working in Finland, especially in the construction sector.
Estonia’s EU presidency has been brought forward by six months to autumn 2017 as a result of the United Kingdom’s EU departure position. During its presidency, Estonia will emphasise the digital single market, among other things.
The presidency will also be a subject of the discussions with Minister Rehula. In addition, the ministers will discuss advancement of the electronic exchange of information and of the compatibility of IT systems in the health care field, the digitalisation of Estonia’s social and health care sector, and the situation regarding the reforms in Finland’s social and health care system.
The ministers also intend to further the mutual recognition of electronic prescriptions, which was agreed by Prime Ministers Juha Sipilä and Taavi Roivas in May.
