New ministers of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment appointed
The President of the Republic appointed the Government of Sanna Marin on 10 December 2019. The new ministers of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment are Tuula Haatainen (Social Democratic Party), Minister of Employment, and Mika Lintilä (Centre Party), Minister of Economic Affairs.
Tuula Haatainen joins the Ministry from the Finnish Parliament, where she served as the First Deputy Speaker. She has previously held several ministerial positions: Minister of Education in the Jäätteenmäki Government (2003), and Minister of Education (2003-2005) and Minister of Social Affairs and Health (2005-2007) in the Vanhanen Government.
Haatainen was a Member of Parliament in 1996-2007 and was re-elected in 2015. She has also served as City of Helsinki Deputy Mayor for Education, Culture and Human Resources, and Deputy Managing Director of the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities.
Mika Lintilä, who held the position of Minister of Finance since June 2019, becomes Minister of Economic Affairs. Lintilä previously served as Minister of Economic Affairs in Prime Minister Sipilä’s Government (2016-2019).
Before being elected a Member of Parliament in 1999, Lintilä was a Financial Manager at Pouttu Oy.
