Annual Labour Market Training Statistics for 2018

In 2018, labour market training was attended on average by 18,600 students, which is 300 (-1%) fewer than in 2017. During 2018, 49,800 new students began labour market training, representing a decrease of 5,900 on the year before. The number of those having completed the training totalled 36,000, i.e., 7,000 less than in 2017.

Of those entering labour market training, 55% were men and 45% women. A total of 6,400 of those having entered training, i.e., 13% of all entrants, were under 25 years of age. The share of over 50-year-olds was 19%.

Of those entering labour market training in 2018, some 71% were unemployed (excluding lay-offs); the corresponding figure for 2017 was 72%. The share of lay-offs was 2%, which is the same as in 2017. Of those who entered labour market training, 5% were people with disabilities or long-term illnesses. Foreign nationals entering training represented some 160 nationalities. The share of foreign nationals was 37%.

In 2018, the average duration of labour market training came to 4.0 months (4.4 months in 2017). The price of a student workday of labour market training acquired for 2018 averaged EUR 40.5, down EUR 9.3 on the previous year.

Of those having completed labour market training in 2018, 58% were employed for two months after the end of training. This is four percentage points more than in 2017.
