Commissioner Elisa Ferreira to visit Finland
EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira will visit Finland on 20–22 September. During her visit, Ferreira will meet Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman and attend an event on future EU regional and structural policy in Mikkeli on 21 September. Commissioner Ferreira will also meet Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Anders Adlercreutz.
On Wednesday, Commissioner Ferreira will meet Mayor of Helsinki Juhana Vartiainen and other leaders of the city. Subsequently, she will visit Vantaa to learn about an inclusive integration project funded by the EU and the Council of Europe. The Commissioner will be received by Pekka Timonen, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Justice, Pekka Timonen, Mayor of Vantaa, and Elina Värtö, Manager of International Affairs at Vantaa.
On Thursday morning, the Commissioner will meet Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Anders Adlercreutz and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
Ferreira will discuss the EU’s future cohesion policy with Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman on Thursday afternoon. They will also give presentations on the topic at an event in Mikkeli focusing on future EU regional and structural policy (‘Tulevaisuuden EU:n alue- ja rakennepolitiikka’). In connection with the event, the Commissioner will also meet regional leaders.
At the circular economy centre Eco Sairila in Mikkeli, Ferreira will learn about regional material cycles and water treatment technologies. On Friday, the Commissioner will visit the border-crossing station in Imatra and the Huuhasuo peat production area in Lappeenranta.
