Current information on the employment of Ukrainian beneficiaries of temporary protection – 6,000 wage and salary earners in April
In cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the VATT Institute for Economic Research provides up-to-date information on the labour market situation of Ukrainians receiving temporary protection. The data produced by the VATT Data Room is open to everyone.
Approximately 53,000 Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s war of aggression had applied for temporary protection in Finland by the end of April 2023. A person fleeing Ukraine has the right to work in Finland immediately after applying for temporary protection.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has started cooperation with the VATT Data Room to obtain up-to-date information on the employment of Ukrainians receiving temporary protection. The data is derived from the Incomes Register, which is updated monthly. The data is available from March 2022.
According to the Incomes Register, 6,000 Ukrainian beneficiaries of temporary protection were wage and salary earners in April 2023. The largest occupational group among them was home, hotel and office cleaners. Many of the working-age Ukrainians are enrolled in training that promotes integration and employment or in other services. Some of the younger working-age people also study in Finland.
The data produced by the VATT Data Room is open to everyone and updated once a month. The information can be sorted by age, gender, industry and occupation, for example.
