Joel Salminen appointed Cooperation Ombudsman
On 30 January 2020, the Government appointed Joel Salminen, Master of Laws, Cooperation Ombudsman for a period of five years starting from 1 March 2020.
Salminen previously served as the CEO of the Academic Engineers and Architects in Finland (TEK). He has 20 years of experience in organisational leadership and five years in positions requiring legal expertise.
The Cooperation Ombudsman is the head of the Office of the Cooperation Ombudsman, which operates under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. The task of the Office of the Cooperation Ombudsman is to promote cooperation between employers and employees by supervising compliance with the Act on Co-operation within Undertakings and other laws regarding employee participation systems. In addition, the Office of the Cooperation Ombudsman supervises personnel funds.
A total of 16 candidates applied for the post of Cooperation Ombudsman.
