Timo Mattila continues as the Head of Competition Division of the FCCA

The Government has appointed Timo Mattila (M.Sc. Engineering, M.Soc.Sc.) as the Head of Competition Division of the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority for a five-year term from 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2025. Mattila has served in this position since April 2013.
In total, his career at the FCCA spans some 20 years. Mattila’s extensive experience and knowledge of competition issues along with his strong leadership background were considered special merits for the position.
Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority
- A government agency operating in the administrative branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment
- Responsible for competition and consumer policy implementation
- Implements the Competition Act and EU competition rules
- Protects consumers’ rights in financial and legal issues
The Head of Division is responsible for operational performance, efficiency and the achievement of targets in the Competition Division. He is also responsible for the performance of duties assigned to the Division in the Competition Act, and supervises compliance with decisions made under the Competition Act.
Nine candidates applied for the position. The Government decided on the appointment at its meeting on 5 March 2020.
