Preparation of legislative proposal on local bargaining continues

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has received 49 comments on the legislative proposals to promote local collective bargaining. The feedback received will now be analysed as part of further preparation. The draft proposal will also be sent to the Finnish Council of Regulatory Impact Analysis for evaluation.
Working group for reforming the Electricity Market Act to facilitate network connections for electricity generators and industrial investments

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment has appointed a working group to prepare a proposal for reforming the Electricity Market Act to integrate the increasing electricity production and the growing load demands into the transmission network and the high-voltage distribution networks. The working group should submit its proposal to the Ministry by 29 November 2024.
EU Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive receives qualified majority of votes in Coreper

On 15 March, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States (Coreper) discussed the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive. The amended proposal for a Directive received a qualified majority of votes of the Member States in Coreper. The matter was previously discussed on 28 February. The European Parliament must now approve the content of the Directive.
Government submits its proposed amendments to industrial peace legislation to Parliament

The Government proposes to increase fines for violating industrial peace, limit disproportionate solidarity action and restrict the length of political strikes. The reform would not restrict industrial action aimed at improving working conditions in one’s own sector.
Kim Mattsson to explore emergency supply cooperation between public and private sector and its development needs

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the National Emergency Supply Agency (NESA) have invited Major General (ret) Kim Mattsson to conduct a study on cooperation related to security of supply. His task is to assess the relevance of the model for the cooperation between the public and private sector implemented by NESA in the Finnish emergency supply organisation and its current state in the changed operating environment.
