Kimitoön’s START for entrepreneurs project (Yrittäjän STARTTI) has won the national stage of the competition for the European Enterprise Promotion Awards (EEPA) and been selected as Finland’s candidate for the European competition. The aim of the project is to support new entrepreneurs in the municipality of Kimitoön by providing structured orientation to local business life.

The number of unemployed jobseekers rose by 28,600 from June of last year. The number of new vacancies reported totalled 23,800. In all, the number of unfilled vacancies in June was 60,100, which is 63,700 fewer than a year ago.

The Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council (EPSCO) will meet in Brussels on 16 July 2024. The topics on the agenda include labour shortages and skills shortages in the EU, and promotion of the employment and social inclusion of persons with disabilities. Minister of Employment Arto Satonen will represent Finland at the meeting in Brussels.

On 11 July 2024, Finland, the United States and Canada published a trilateral declaration concerning cooperation in the production of icebreakers (ICE). The initiative was signed by the Presidents of Finland and the United States Alexander Stubb and Joe Biden and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau.
