Energy Council to discuss EU competitiveness and winter preparedness

The EU energy ministers will convene in Luxembourg on 15 October 2024 for the official Energy Council under the Hungarian Presidency. There are no decisions on the agenda of the meeting. The ministers will discuss follow-up measures to the recommendations of Draghi’s competitiveness report, preparedness for the upcoming winter season and divergence in wholesale electricity prices.

Government proposes amendments to Seasonal Workers Act to improve status of foreign berry pickers

The amendments aim to safeguard a sufficient level of income for foreign pickers and improve monitoring to ensure the rights of pickers are realised. The wild berry sector will be brought into line with other sectors requiring seasonal labour.  

New coordination group to intensify national cooperation in promotion of offshore wind power

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment appointed a coordination group on offshore wind power. The group will maintain a situation picture for the offshore wind power sector and participate in the preparation of the timetables and selection of wind power areas, which will be tendered in territorial waters and the exclusive economic zone.

Government sends its proposal on developing the conciliation system to Parliament
