Minister of Employment Arto Satonen convened a seminar on the development of the Finnish labour market model on 8 November 2023, which was attended by representatives from all employer and employee organisations negotiating collective agreements in Finland.

Minister of Climate and the Environment Kai Mykkänen will attend the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on 27 September 2023. The Conference will be held in Vienna this week. Mykkänen will deliver Finland’s national statement at the Conference on Wednesday.

The food industry has renewed its commitment to materials efficiency to promote more sustainable food production, distribution and consumption in 2022–2026. The Finnish Food and Drink Industries’ Federation, the Finnish Grocery Trade Association and the Finnish Hospitality Association MaRa have signed the commitment together with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of the Environment.

At its 65th General Conference, the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA elected Finland to the IAEA Board of Governors for a two-year term from September 2021 to September 2023 with a possible extension for a third year.

On 28 October 2020, the European Commission presented a proposal for a Directive on adequate minimum wages in the EU. The Government supports the proposal’s objective to combat in-work poverty, for example by improving the role of labour market organisations in wage formation and their ability to negotiate and agree wages through collective agreements.
