State to capitalise Climate Fund by EUR 200 million

On 24 November 2022, the Government authorised the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment to make on its behalf a EUR 200 million gratuitous investment in the Climate Fund’s reserve of unrestricted equity. The capitalisation would occur in one instalment in 2022.

Government grants EUR 3 million in business financing for managing structural change in Jämsä

On 27 October 2022, the Government decided to grant EUR 3 million to the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment of Central Finland for managing the sudden structural change in Jämsä. The funding will be especially allocated to investment and development projects of SMEs that create new jobs and support business renewal.

On 4 October, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment made the first energy investment aid decisions under Finland’s Recovery and Resilience Plan to promote clean energy solutions. Aid was granted to six projects totalling EUR 99.8 million.

EU Innovation Fund launches REPowerEU application round for large projects

The EU Innovation Fund’s third application round for large projects began on 3 November 2022. A total of EUR 3 billion is available for investments in decarbonisation, electrification of industry, hydrogen, and manufacturing and piloting of energy technologies. The deadline for applications is 16 March 2023.

Support for management of sudden structural changes and development of international capabilities of SMEs

On 18 March, the Government granted Naantali and the Kemi-Tornio region EUR 600,000 and EUR 1.1 million, respectively, for the management of sudden structural changes. At the same time, the Lahti region was granted the remaining portion of the EUR 1.065 million additional funding already proposed to it. In addition, South Finland and Western Finland received funding to develop the international capabilities of SMEs.
