Economic expectations among SMEs have risen sharply following the pandemic year, the SME Barometer of 4,600 entrepreneurs shows. 

Since 2008, productivity growth in Finland has been weaker than in its closest competitor countries. Unlike its competitors, Finland has failed to benefit from technological development or ICT investments that would have generated productivity growth, says Matti Pohjola, Professor of Economics at Aalto University, in his report.

The OECD has today published a review of research and innovation policy in Finland where it gives several recommendations for increased productivity, economic renewal, competence development and improved effectiveness of research. A key challenge for Finland is to transform knowledge, research results and new ideas into new products and innovations in global markets.
