Mergers and acquisitions that exceed certain turnover thresholds must be notified to the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (FCCA). The FCCA will intervene in the transaction if it is deemed to prevent effective competition in Finland. The Government proposes that the notification threshold for mergers and acquisitions be lowered under the Competition Act.

A report that evaluates the activities, services and implementation of digitalisation projects at the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes) has been completed. The report includes recommendations for both Tukes and the ministries steering its activities to develop the agency's activities in the future.

The Government has adopted a decree on granting energy aid in 2018–2022. Like before, the objective is to promote the production of renewable energy, energy saving and energy efficiency. In future even more of the aid will be targeted to new technology projects. The budget for 2018 is EUR 55 million.
