Minister Tiilikainen on a Team Finland visit to China on 12–14 September 2018
Minister of the Environment, Energy and Housing Kimmo Tiilikainen will visit Beijing and Nanjing on 12–14 September 2018 to promote the exports of Finnish businesses. The business delegation accompanying the Minister has 11 representatives from the energy, bioeconomy, cleantech and digital technology sectors.
During his visit, Minister Kimmo Tiilikainen will meet Minister of the National Energy Administration of China Nur Bekri. Bekri visited Finland in autumn 2017 to discuss the implementation of the MoU, among other topics.
Tiilikainen will also meet the Chinese Minister of Ecology and Environment Li Ganjie and Deputy Minister Yi Jun from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. The Minister will attend a Chinese-Finnish business seminar on clean energy in Beijing and meet the two Chairs of the Innovative Business Cooperation Committee, founded earlier this spring to develop Chinese-Finnish commercial cooperation in the energy sector.
In Nanjing, the Minister will visit the South New Town pilot for sustainable urban development and the local university to learn about their air quality research. He will also meet the Mayor of Nanjing Lan Shaoming.
Finland has a long history of active collaboration with China in the energy and environment sectors. The countries’ mutual interest and commitment to energy cooperation was confirmed at the highest political level when the countries signed a Joint Declaration during President Xi’s visit to Finland in April 2017.
A few months later, the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and the National Energy Administration (NEA) of China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that lists a number of areas for cooperation, including deployment of renewable energy sources, energy demand management and promotion of clean heating and cooling solutions.

Business Finland and the Finnish Environment Institute will also be represented in the delegation.
