Minister Rydman to participate in the world’s largest mining industry event with companies operating in Finland

Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will attend the annually organised PDAC, the world’s largest mineral exploration and mining event, and the meeting of mining ministers in Toronto, Canada on 3-4 March 2024. The main theme of the meeting will be responsible mining and the clean transition.

Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman will attend a ministerial meeting of the future minerals Forum in Saudi Arabia on 9.1.2024.The Forum offers an opportunity to present Finnish mining expertise to the Saudi Arabian, African and Asian markets. During the Forum, the Minister together with Finnish mining and mineral industry operators will attend events to promote bilateral trade and investment relations and partnership projects. The Minister will also meet his key colleagues in Saudi Arabia.
Amended Mining Act to strengthen citizen influence, economic prospects and environmental aspects

The Government proposed amendments to the Mining Act on 8 September 2022. The amendments will improve the opportunities of influence among local residents and increase business prospects and environmental considerations.
Working group on peat proposes ways to help the sector in transition and to increase role of peat in security of supply

The working group on peat, which was appointed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, submitted its report to Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä on 31 March 2021. The report includes measures to improve the situation of peat industry operators as demand for energy peat declines sharply due to the emission allowance prices rising much faster than previously forecast.
Finland and Sweden want a certificate for sustainable minerals in the mining industry

Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs Mika Lintilä met with Minister of Economic Affairs Mikael Damberg from Sweden in Brussels on Monday 12 March 2018. The ministers agreed that the countries will work together on preparations to create an accountability certificate concerning products in the mining industry.
