Applications invited for a special grant for guidance and counselling services for immigrants

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment will be accepting applications for EUR 4 million for guidance and counselling services for immigrants. The objective of this grant is to enhance the integration and employment of immigrants by developing guidance and counselling services and the related multi-sectoral cooperation. The application period will be open from 18 May to 18 June 2020.

The Government proposes an amendment to the Act on the Promotion of Immigrant Integration affecting young people who have entered Finland as unaccompanied minor asylum seekers. The Government proposes that they would be entitled to receive support equivalent to child welfare after-care until the age of 25 in-stead of the current age limit of 21 years.
Results of the employment experiment for immigrants encouraging

By December 2019, 869 of the 2,211 immigrants who participated in the integration SIB (Social Impact Bond) experiment had been employed. The experiment is estimated to employ approximately 1,000–1,200 people in total.
