EU ministers reach an agreement on Platform Work Directive

At their meeting of 11 March, the EU ministers for employment and social affairs approved the agreement reached with the European Parliament on the Platform Work Directive. Minister of Employment Arto Satonen represented Finland at the meeting in Brussels.
Commissioner Elisa Ferreira to visit Finland

EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira will visit Finland on 20–22 September. During her visit, Ferreira will meet Minister of Economic Affairs Wille Rydman and attend an event on future EU regional and structural policy in Mikkeli on 21 September. Commissioner Ferreira will also meet Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Anders Adlercreutz.
Seminar discusses ways to boost value added of the innovative bioeconomy

Boosting the value added of the bioeconomy in general and from the perspective of different sectors was the focus of a seminar held in Helsinki on 6 June 2023, where the main guest was Magda Kopczynska, Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development. More than 130 invited guests followed the event on location and online. The seminar was organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment.
Pay security reform would improve the position of victims of serious work-based exploitation

The purpose of the pay security system is to ensure payment of employees’ claims arising from an employment relationship in the event of the employer’s insolvency. The Government proposes to reform the pay security legislation in order to address serious exploitation of workers, streamline the pay security process and combat the grey economy.
Bioeconomy Strategy 2022–2035 – Sustainably towards higher value added

Finland’s new Bioeconomy Strategy has been completed. The strategy aims to double the value added of bioeconomy in an ecologically, socially and economically sustainable manner and to make Finland climate neutral by 2035.
