On 21 March 2024, the Government appointed Juhapekka Ristola, Master of Laws trained on the bench, to serve as Director General of the Innovation and Enterprise Financing Department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment for the period of 1 April 2024–31 March 2029.

Maarit Merla has been appointed Managing Director of Finnish Drug Discovery Center Ltd. She will start in the position on 1 January 2024. Finnish Drug Discovery Center Ltd is a wholly state-owned company with special assignment, which belongs to the administrative branch of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and falls under its ownership steering. The company serves universities and research institutes, operators in clinical drug research and companies in the sector across Finland.

Government proposal on aid scheme for the electrification of energy-intensive industries is submitted to Parliament

An aid scheme is proposed for electricity-intensive industries to compensate for the indirect costs of emissions trading on the price of electricity. The Government submitted a proposal on this to Parliament on 31 March 2022. The act is scheduled to enter into force in summer 2022.

On 21 October 2021, the Government approved the EU regional and structural policy programme, Innovation and Skills in Finland 2021−2027, and decided to submit it to the European Commission. The programme supports industrial, energy, climate, innovation, education and employment policies as well as the work against exclusion and poverty.
