Processing of personal data: applying for open positions in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment

We publish the open positions in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment mainly through the valtiolle.fi service, which also serves as a channel for submitting job applications. In the valtiolle.fi service, we collect data which is essential for the selection process and which you provide when submitting an application. You can also submit your application in paper format to the Registry of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, observing the instructions given in the job advertisement.

In the valtiolle.fi service, you can indicate if you do not wish your name to be disclosed in the application process.

What data do we collect on you in connection with recruitment?

Your identification details: name; address; phone number; email address; gender; date of birth; any other identification details.

Other information about you: education, work experience, languages and other necessary information relevant to the job application, such as additional skills and details of your driving licence.

Contact details for references

The applications you submit via the valtiolle.fi service will be deleted from the valtiolle.fi service 12 months after the recruitment process ends. 

Applications and their attachments are stored in accordance with the archiving obligation. Applications, including their attachments, for positions and jobs in which the applicant is appointed by the President of the Republic or the government are to be stored permanently. In addition, the details of the application and its attachments are used in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment for the explanatory memorandum and combined earnings related to the job search. 

The retention periods of information related to the recruitment process in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment are determined based on the Archive Act, the order on public archives and the Government’s information management plan. 

What is our data processing based on?

We process your personal data to comply with our statutory obligation.
The tasks of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment are laid down in the following, among others:  

  • Government Decree on the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment 
  • Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment Decree on the Rules of Procedure of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment 

In addition, the following include provisions about application for office:

  • Act on Public Officials in Central Government. 
  • Decree on Public Officials in Central Government 
  • Act on the Protection of Privacy in Working Life  
  • Act on the Knowledge of Languages Required of Personnel in Public Bodies 
  • Security Clearance Act 
  • Government Rules of Procedure 

Disclosure and transfer of your personal data

We may disclose personal data, upon request, in accordance with the Act on the Openness of Government Activities.

The application documents are subject to the parties’ right of access. 

We may occasionally use the services of external recruitment consultants. In such cases, we make sure that they process personal data in accordance with the GDPR. 

We do not disclose your personal data for direct marketing, market surveys, and opinion polls.
