Petri Peltonen to continue as Under-Secretary of State at Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment
On 13 November 2025, the Government appointed Petri Peltonen, Licentiate of Science (Technology), as Under-Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment for the term 1 February 2026–31 January 2031.
Peltonen has served as Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and as the first deputy to the Permanent Secretary since 2016. Before that, he worked as Director General at the Ministry and as director in Tekes (now Business Finland). He has more than 25 years of experience in leadership positions. Besides this, he has previous experience in product development in the private sector and in international development of space technology in the European Space Agency (ESA).
The Under-Secretary of State assists the Permanent Secretary in leading and coordinating strategic policies, guidance and operational models in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and its administrative branch. In particular, the Under-Secretary of State assists the Permanent Secretary in leading the preparation of large-scale special projects related to business and industrial policy and in creating international cooperation networks and promoting investment projects. The Under-Secretary of State serves as the first deputy to the Permanent Secretary.
